  1. 2016 RI237

I wouldn't be worried about the hours. I have about that amount of time on mine. Of course every boat is a little different, but I haven't had any mechanical issues. I have had to replace my surf gate once and an actuator onde over the 6 years of use, but othereisd the surf systems (ballast intake and surf plates) have been great. Hope this info helps. Good luck with your purchase!
  2. 2016 RI237

I have a 2016 Ri217 and love it. The shaft angle does prevent an upgrade to a silent stinger exhaust but I still get and amazing wave on both sides (you will need some lead if you want to make the wave prefect). Most 2016 models were basically spec models sent to dealers to sell preorders of the 2017s. Not a ton on units made that year unlike later models where unit numbers began to explode and all manufacturers had trouble keeping up with demand, 2016s are built well. Short answer don't shy away from the 2016 unless your heart wants a stinger plate. The boat will kick a great wave and probably be more reliable than a later model. I have been on a ton of later models of all sizes, makes and brands - wife and I agree our wave is the bomb. Happy surfing!

  4. Not sure if you got my earlier message I sent you but I had the same thing happen to my RI217. My fix was replacing the ignition fuse. The fuse did not look burnt but it was and replacing it worked for me. Haven't had an issue starting since. Good luck
  5. Hey larryk, had the same issue with my ri217 almost identical as what you described. Turned out to be my ignition fuse. Simple fix but this was after the dealer replaced the throttle casing. Upon exssmination the fuse looked fine but turns out it would short out causing that very sane issue. One way to check to see if this is the is to hot wire the boat when it doesn't start. I took a screwdriver and connected terminals of the solenoid to jump start the engine. Realized it was the fuse and been working great ever since. I would put a new 20 amp ignition fuse and see if that doesnt ggix the problem. Ferro free to DM me if you ned more info. Good luck homie
  6. Anyone have any issues starting their RI? I am having issues with my RI not turning over? Started in the slip and filled. Started up, surfed my girl for about 40 minutes. Killed it, switched riders and nothing - wouldn't turn over ( full power and battery, all screens lit up, just nothing when you hit the start button). Sat around for about 10 minutes, giggled the throttle and contact. Notice the same issue while at Lake Pleasant last fall after launching and then filling. Acts like it's not in gear, wiggle the throttle and nothing until out of nowhere, it will turn over again? Anybody come across this issue? Thank you in advance for any assistsnce
  7. PCM H5 engine troubles

Hey Surfer, so have gotten some more time on my boat, have a better gauge of what I am running at for RPMs. To answer your question on fill and settings, I run 100/90ish on my RAM depending on what side I am running (I find a slight list helps my wave clean and crisp and can drain and fill the RAM on the fly in seconds). I run 100 on both plug and plays and maybe 40% center now (didn't historically use my center or bow sacs but recently had my dog on the bow and like the extra length her weight provided). I also have 400lbs of lead weight spread out from mostly cooler back (right now I have 100 in the cooler, 100 on each side under the towers and 50 in the rear behind the PNPs). For settings I usually run 70 /45 on both sides but 0 CATS on port side and -18ish on starboard side. Usually run between 10.7 and 11.4. We've been really happt with these settings and my wife is very picky about her wave. I find it very consistent at those settings as well. As far as RPM, my girl serrms to like starboard side better, runs between 3200 and 3600. She runs 3600-3800 on the port side. Hope this info helps. Again I have a 450 but run at 6000 feet so I lose a lot of horse power. Good luck again
  8. PCM H5 engine troubles

Hey Surfer, so it looks like my engine runs around 3800 when surfing. Hope this info helps you figure out if something is going on. Good luck!!
  9. PCM H5 engine troubles

Sorry to hear about your issues. I will be out Friday (also run my ri217 at high elevation) and will let you know what her RPM is when weighted and surfing.
  10. Hey crew, anyone interested in a custom built fab-dock for a 217? They are pricey (@ 13.5k) but a really convenient option for those who want to keep her dry while floating but do not have the capacity for a traditional boat lift set up. I have one pre-ordered to float behind our houseboat and should be available for install in about 2-3 weeks (but I won't be able to install it until next Spring). Thought maybe some other 217 owner may have a more immediate use and I would reorder next Spring. DM me if interested and I can send you some photos and the price sheet.
  11. Fabdock for 217

    Heres a pic
  12. Ri217 owners

Hey crew, I also have a question for fellow 217 owners: anyone interested in a custom built fab-dock for a 217? 13. Hey crew, anyone got their 2018 ri257 wave dialed in? If so share your settings please. Asking for a friend, thank you
  14. I had this exact problem also iin my 217. Turned out the actuator was stripped and wouldn't fully retract. Once I got a new one installed (under the warranty) hasn't happened since. Maybe this is your issue as well?
  15. Anyone need a boat driver for this Thursday in the Salt Lake area? Have the day to kill iand thought maybe someone was headed out and had room for 1

  17. Congratulations!! Absolutely love mine. I don't wakeboard behind mine but I like my surf waves. Only after market addition is i added 400 lbs lead in the rear. I run anywhere from 10.8 to 11.6. Slower shortens and steepens the wave, faster stretches it out a little. I only fill my rear pnps and ram, but fill them all to the brim. Sometimes i shed some RAM for beginners. For right side I run negative CATS (9-20), 65 to 75 in quick surf tab and 55-65 in center tab. For a quick switch to left side I zero out the cats, maybe 45 to 55 (little less) center tab because the engine works a little harder pushing a left side wave. I run mainly right side so haven't developed my left side wave as much, but I have pulled some pretty big guys on my left and one went out and bought a new ri afterwards. Visually both sides are super clean and crisp. Feel free to direct message me if you have any questions. Happy surfing homie
  18. Hey crew, anyone know how to self remedy a warning code for when your intake manifold temp volt is above normal or gas a short high source? Getting a warning code of SPN 105 and FMI 3. Be nice to fix her this weekend if anyone has a solution. Thanks in advance
  19. May....picture thread

@davidcastelhano congrats on the new boat. Love the colors
  20. Hey crew, my buddy was saying today that centurion was discontuning CATS starting with the 2018 models? I had not heard that yet and was wondering if true
  21. Silly Question

Definitely want to have the T plug in before you launch. Not a silly question at all COV2. I once had my T plug wiggle out while running back in. Bit of a long story but ran my girl until the recommended 20 hour service. Got her back from thd dealer after the service and didnt think i needed to check my T plug. Sure enough it was choppy on the way back into the marina after the first day of surfing and my T came out. Was curious why my bildge was running so opened my rear compartment at my slip and had a good 6 inches of water. After the initial shock, was able to determine the T plug was missing and then barley spotted it lying on the rear port tranny under what is now more like 10 inches of water. It was really hard to see partly because of all the water, but mostly because of how deep the engine compartments are in the RIs. Finding the plug was the easy part, getting it was another matter. Dove in head first and after growing my arm about 3 inches, could just barely reach it with my fingertips, thankfully. Now the real challenge was getting myself out of the engine compartment upside down water to my nose. Honestly I was stuck for a second and thought, well, upside down in my sinking boat . . .guess there are worst ways to go? At least it would make a catchy headline and great photo op (feet sticking out of a partially submerged wake boat, almost too perfect not to be staged). But somehow I was able to wedge myself out against the hot engine. Chest was covered in small burns and big bruises, but I live to fight and more importantly, she still floats, another day! Moral crew: always check both plugs, no exceptions.
  22. April....picture thread

Air temp 73, water 58. You really try hard not to fall April 27th is the earliest launch date ever for us in Colorado, thanks global warming! Nice to have my girl floating again

  24. CATS question

    Congratulations Gdmatson!!
  25. CATS question

My buddy said he was under the impression he had CATS on his new 2018 but the sales rep said it was no longer available as an option? Maybe its just a misunderstanding but discontinuing CATS made no sense to me since it has such a big effect on my wave and running attitude. But I only have a 217 and do not have the new optiV hull so i wanted to see if what he was hearing was true. Thanks all for clarifying - sounds like my buddy better make sure his boat has the fin underneath if he thought he paid for that option.
