  1. Ok guys. Bought my float crib last November, only had one key. PO said if he could find the extra set he'd send them on. That hasn't happened, yet. So I was wondering, where do I get an extra boat key? Can I take the one I have and make a copy? Local hardware or big box store? FINELINE? Thanks in advance.
  2. Wouldn't think that should effect your other switches. You might have a dead battery.
  3. These are what purchased. Sorry for the dead link in previous post. Purchased off Amazon.
  4. Spare Boat Key

Maybe all of us wanting/needing keys can go in on a bulk buy. Could be something they could put in the Crew Store? I'm laughing at that thought.
  5. Don't think that'll work. If you have a dealership close, go there. You can also contact the people at Fineline and they should be able to help.
  6. Spare Boat Key

Well, that takes yours off my list of "New boats".
  7. Spare Boat Key

Well then, it seems I'll be getting a new Centurion! Hey man, what's that over there? See ya! Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll get the same key everyone else has. Kooky.

  10. Might want to see if the one in the classified section is still available. Think it was $175. Check your drive shaft size to see if it'll work for you.
  11. Dodged a bullet or two. How many boat lives do you have? Something to keep an eye on for sure.
  12. Spare Boat Key

That's funny, mine is also in the ignition. Guess I'm being overly worried about it getting "misplaced".
  13. Anyone replace one of these yet? I've had it out of the boat all winter with weight on it and still the same. Peeled back the carpet an it looks like laminated plywood. I figured it'd be something more resistant to water.
  14. As far as I know, the factors for insurance premiums are age, driving record, and where you live. That's been my experience. Progressive for me $225 a year.
  15. So it looks like they hold your gauges for ransom. Oh well. Guess if you want gauges to work, you'll have to pay up.
  16. I started by removing plastic access handle. Then I started to remove carpet with a putty knife. Treated New lid with varnish and let dry. I purchased some indoor/outdoor carpet adhesive and applied to new lid and old carpet. Smoothed out carpet with a piece of 2x4 and let set in the sun for a day.
  17. Here's what I was sent. Looks like plain old marine plywood. I had to trim edges and sand to get it the same as the old one. I'll keep the old one as a template.
  18. Check the model# on the back of the gauge. If it's a GSC002A, you'll have to send it to Faria to have it fixed. I believe for $125 they'll fix the gauge and it'll be under a 3 year warranty from that point.
  19. The cost is $35, $62 shipped to my door. They didn't hook me up, but it doesn't bother me to bad. It'd be nice if everything I've done cost $62 shipped to my door. I've dealt with Gloria and now Shell, they've been more than helpful.
  20. I first want to thank anyone that has done this job,V drive or Direct, then let the rest of us know with words or pics. So, when I test drove my boat last year, I noticed that the steering was hand over hand, with force. Reading through as many posts as I could, I email Fine line. Received a reply from Gloria with the proper sized cable. She suggested a Seastar SSC13418 18 foot cable. I purchased the SSC15418 TFXtreme from Amazon for around $150. I've been dreding doing this job all winter. Not having a helper, or beer assistant, I knew that I'd be cursing every bloody knuckle. Man was I surprised! I took the pin that attaches the end of the cable to the rudder out. Loosened the 1 1/8" nut on the old cable, tied a small rope through the rudder connection hole on the cable. I took the captain's seat out knowing I'd need the extra room. Then I removed the four bolts that attach the rack at the helm. Removed a few zip ties and started to slowly pull the cable from the helm side. The only spot I had a hang up was coming the bilge into the ski locker. Knowing the back end of the cable wouldn't make the turn from the ski locker up through the helm, I cut the cable with what we call at work "The Master Key", or bolt cutters. I cut the cable in two spots, once just to get the majority of the old cable out of the boat, and the other under the helm. I pulled the cable into the ski locker and out of the boat. Nice! No cursing, no bloody knuckles. New cable went in very smooth. I feed the rudder end of cable under the helm through the hole into the ski locker. Tied the rope and fed cable back toward the back of the boat. I would pull the rope and maneuver the cable through the helm. Pulled the cable to back of the boat. I checked the rudder and made sure it was straight, Lubed the cable ends and connected the pin to rudder. Next step was to make sure wheel was straight, then attached the rack to steering wheel and install four bolts. The job took me a little over an hour. I'm sure if I had an assistant, the job would've taken less time. I can now turn steering wheel with one finger and is smooth as silk. Thanks for posting any help, newbs do appreciate it.
  21. Looks good. That's what they look like. Make sure you grease the tubes on the steering cable before putting in the new support tube.
  22. Update: Spoke with Shell this morning. Has the un-carpeted ski locker lid being sent out today. Hopefully should see it in a week or so. I'll post pics when it arrives for those interested.
  23. Was it an option? A special, part of the bling package? That's funny. Something else you can try is remove the bolt that hold the support tube bracket. Unhook the rudder end of the cable. Put the new block and support tube and slide the cable back through.
  24. I guess I could always go with one that fits either one of the blanks I have on either side of the speedo and tach. Thanks for your help, it's good to have others to bounce ideas off of.
