  1. Who owned that boat before you, Richard Gere?!! Ha! Maybe he was the mechanic?? If I store my boat for a while, I'll put blue painters tape over the exhaust flappers to keep those little suckers out of there. I'm sure squirrels can store a bunch of junk in there too. Might I suggest a couple of these.
  2. The trans cooler is located at the back of the engine, just above transmission. There are two hydraulic hoses that thread into the cooler. Also, a large cooling hose in and out of cooler. If you follow the hose off of raw water pump, you can trace it back to the inlet of trans cooler. I'll take a pic when I get home later today.
  3. Glad I checked it. We recently ran through some shallow channels between lakes, so I thought I'd give it a look. When I disconnected the hose from the raw water pump, I dumped it into the bilge and found no more debris.
  4. Next Crew deal should be a sticker/plaque to affix around that knob. That would be awesome! Something simple like wife volume control (WVC) or Nice to Nag. Pretty funny.
  5. Welcome to the Crew! True is correct. There should be zerk fittings on the rudder, get yourself a grease gun with an extension hose and you can get to the rudder. With my inboard I have a floor panel that is under the back seat. I can gain access to the rudder and cable connecting to it. The cable attaches to the rudder with a pin and cotter pin. The cable should attach to a support tube with a 1 1/8" nut. Remove the cable from the rudder and support tube. Check the rudder to see if it moves freely. It should move easy. Then check to see if cable moves freely by turning the steering wheel. Have an assistant hold the cable at the back of the boat. This is my take, the cable was not replaced,or sat a long time and has frozen. If everything works smooth, grease the rudder and tubes on cable and reinstall.
  6. One of mine was not working. I took the screws off and pulled chrome piece and gasket off of hull. Looked in the hole and saw the wire hanging. I used a coat hanger to retrieve it. The bulb had broken. The assembly has kind of a spring clip that houses the bulb and pushes into the socket of lens assembly. I replaced with LED's.
  7. Anyone ever heard of this? I'll paint the picture... Two weekends ago, took the boat out. Ran like a champ. This weekend, no fire. Checked batteries, below 13 volts. Not knowing the age of the batteries, figured I'd replace them. So apparently, the PO had put batteries in that had to be removed for charging after each outing. The guy at marine parts said the ones I had were for trolling motors. What a PITA!
  8. Could be true Ski. Anything is possible with an older craft. Put fresh batteries in and fired and ran great.
  9. Under water lights?

That pic looks evil. It's like the gates of he'll. Aaaahhh!
  10. Not sure if there's two or not. Make sure you fill the new separator with fresh gas be fore installing it.
  11. Maybe the batteries were old/ bad cells. All I know is after being charged over the winter and used twice in a two week period, those suckers wouldn't start my boat. Sure I listened to the stereo, but also ran the boat most of the day. So it wasn't like I was being to rough on them. Plus, I used my Perko to isolate when not running, then set to both when running.
  12. That's funny Ski. Did the same last weekend.
  13. Thanks for the reply Wylie. Volts were around 12.6 and 12.9. They were Interstate 550 CCA. Anyway, I have a larger one now for accessories and a good size for starting. 1000 CCA, 800 CCA respectively. Could've have age of old batteries,, just thought it funny that the guy said my alternator would charge them. Guess I figured that all deep cycle/marine batteries were the same.
  14. Droplets??! Damon spell check! Threads on greasing...
  15. Make sure you remove the small set screw before you put grease in. There threads on droplets shaft seal greasing.
  16. Throwing darts here... change you filters. If you ran it almost empty, maybe you pulled some muck out of the tank into your filter(s). Check your plugs and distributor. Rule out some of the cheaper fixes first.
  17. The seat area in my bow has no drain either. Guess they thought that area would ever get wet. It's a pain, but pull out items and wet vac it out. I'll do it when we store wet life jackets or use the anchor. Then you can leave the seats up and let some light and air in the compartments. Should keep it from smelling musty.
  18. Welcome to the Crew. You'll want to write your hull # down and give that for replacement cable.
  19. And you think your system is bad tush?

Sorry, bimini of solar panels. Damn spell check!
  20. And you think your system is bad tush?

His next install will be a bikini made of solar panels.
  21. And you think your system is bad tush?

I can see that guy... (him) Honey, I've got a great idea for the boat tunes! (Her) How expensive is it going to be?! (Him) The kids don't need to go to college, right? (Him) and the amps will be towel warmers!
  22. Good call on centering the wheel True. It's a lot easier doing that on dry ground instead of on the water.Grease the rudder and inner part of the cable tube , if you can. I would also recommend a good beer assistant.
  23. We should publish this. We call call it "50 shades of Centurion". Or, "Broke Back Centurion". Say these titles like the movie announcer guy, it sounds so creepy. Feel free to chime in with titles.
  24. Tower biminis. Call and give them your boat year/ model and make of tower, they can help choose the right one for your boat.
