  1. What does the sprinkler valve do? It looks like it is plumbed down flow of the intake pump line. Does it close when the tank is full? I got the pump working, blown fuse.
  2. How hot should the wheel bearing hub get? The last tow home about 10 miles and 50/50 city versus freeway driving after getting home they were almost too hot to hold on to. Not sure if 'hub' is the correct term so here's a picture. The hot area was inside the lug nuts, which were hot too.
  3. I've never experienced this before. The boat is idling in neutral while we listen to the hydroplane races on our local AM station, i pop the boat in gear and get all kinds of static/interference over the radio. Put the boat back in neutral and it goes away. Any ideas what could be causing this?
  4. 2006 Elite V C4 w/ Scorpion 5.7 and ACME 1579 LH 13.5 x 14.25 Currently have mid factory tank (not sure how big that is) and 2 440 lb bags.... One in rear port locker and the other usually on the seat pushed to port side. People weight in bow seems to take away wave height, guessing because I don't think i have enough rear weight. This does OK but want a longer wave and one that has a cleaner top. We all surf on port side. I'd like to have more weight in rear locker that is auto fill/drain then I could use my small bags where I need them. WakeMakers has suggested this... 900 lb bag for locker (they think 1,100 lb is too big) Use the existing drain plug just forward of V drive for fill point (I don't want to drill + I never use this drain plug) T into an existing vent/drain line Use a reversible pump Does this setup sound OK to you guys? I think it was around $700.00.
  5. Looks like WakeMakers brand pump, they must buy from a manufacturer like Water Puppy or someone. I'll have to shop around and see if that is a good price @ $220. Here a picture
  6. Great stuff. Thank you all for the tips and advice. I need to take the time and just do all the above, go through and check everything. It clunks pretty good too when starting from a dead stop... there was a post about that not too long ago. From what I can tell they are Teailer Buddy Axels by LIF P All four hubs were equally as hot.
  7. I have done hours of reading on this forum about props. We buggered up our Acme 817 prop (13.5 x 17.5) yesterday. This is my first year owning a tournament style v drive boat and am getting used to the differences from the I/O we had for 13 years (only second time in 13 years ever hitting the prop). I can't decide if going to an Acme 1579 (14.25 pitch) would be to drastic of a move from the 17.5 pitch we had. The thing of it is, the boat would go fast but that is not important to me. I would rather have better hole shot and performance for wake boarding & surfing. I have the Black Scorpion 5.7 motor and 1.46:1 vdrive. I don't think it quite hit the rev limiter when wide open, but I'm not sure. I also don't know hole shot performance or boarding/surfing performance since we haven't done any yet. Just got the boat in October. I'm not sure if having a prop where you really need to watch over revving is the right move. I am wondering what any of you with my same boat/motor and drive configuration are using. The Acme 537 is a 16 pitch which may be a better compromise. I will call Acme tomorrow and Wakemakers to see what their recommendations would be. Thanks crew for any advice!
  8. QuickSilver 25W-40 synthetic blend. This is per my Mercury engine owners manual.
  9. What kind should I use in here....?
  10. Seal

Man what a pita to even reach those screws! I'll give it a go...
  11. Seal

This looks like your picture. How do I know how much grease? Will it squeeze out of the removed screw holes?
  12. Seal

I have the same boat and same question. I hope you don't mind if I tag along with your question. I have a tube that carries water to the shaft, what does that do? Also, appears to be a grease zirk down there, how often should that be checked?
  13. Last year was our first season in our 2006 Elite V w/ Black Scorpion 5.7. Bought the boat in October of 2013 with 117 hrs on it. Now we have 150 hrs going into this season. I changed the oil last year and plan to change it again now. I did not service the transmission or V-Drive fluids. The previous owner had the boat serviced every year at the dealer so these may have been changed in 2013. I see the manual states to change these fluids every season. In checking the fluid levels of each the fluids look very clean. Should I change these fluids anyway? How easy is it to change the v-drive and transmission fluids? I am pretty handy and take very good care of our boat but question if an annual change is really needed. Also, changed out the fuel/water separator last year. Is this a recommended annual change as well? We never fuel on the water so there's not that extra chance of getting water into the fuel. I'll value all of your opinions! Thanks for the help.
  14. I put a 1579 on our 2006 Elite V and have been very pleased with the results! Great hole shot and holds surfs speeds very well... no complaints whatsoever.
  15. Don't feel bad, I made the same mistake with my new to me 2006 Elite V with the same motor as you.
  16. I called ACME and they said the goto prop for my boat and for surfing/boarding was the 1579. Yes, you should call them to see what they will say. I remember Wakemakers recommending a prop for my boat that I didn't end up getting... Bought my prop from them though. I top out at around 48 or so I think at almost full throttle.
  17. That looks like fresh oil to me. Did it not have that golden coloring before? Level of oil looks good too.
  18. Doesn't matter about warm or cold other than you'll have more of a truer reading while cold since all the oil has dropped down into the oil pan. Just make sure the boat is sitting somewhat level. I'd complain to the shop and have them make it right. Too much oil is not good and it shouldn't be dark in color after a fresh change.
  19. I changed out to an Acme 1579. My Elite V is a little newer than yours (2006) but love the prop. Lost some top end but works awesome at surf speeds. I'm not sure it's applicable to your year of boat though.
  20. In 14 years of boating in Kennewick, WA on the Snake and Columbia rivers this is the earliest I've ever been out. Boat sat from late September till today without even a charge to the batteries and the thing fired right up. All was good, ran perfect. Looks so much better without the Air Warrior decals.
  21. Waiting anxiously to get back out on the Columbia and Snake rivers here in eastern WA. Our Wx is still back and forth as most springs are but I am hoping by mid to late May things heat up and we can get out there. This will be our 2nd summer in this boat while I strive to dial in the surf wave. For weight I have the center factory tank + 2 440 lb sacs. I have been filling the center tank, putting one in rear port locker and one on the rear seat pushed to the port side. The result isn't bad but my question is how do I get the wave taller and longer? Seems like we are pretty close to the boat but as I watch other surf boats the riders seem pretty close too. In the all the reading I have done it seems an important fact is to get the boat riding low in the water... Not necessarily the port rear but the center and bow as well. We usually have plenty of passengers that can be used for weight distribution as well. I really think I need some larger sacs (will call WakeMakers this week) but wanted to reach out to the experts on this forum and get some quick, simple advice. We're not pros on the board but myself and my daughters are picking it up pretty quick and need our wave bigger and better . Thanks for all you guys do in this forum, it has helped me a lot!
  22. Prop puller all the way. Yes, pricey but in my opinion worth every penny. The right tool for the job makes all the difference. Pulling mine takes less than 5 mins. As for the vibration I would try another prop. My boat vibrated kind of bad at higher RPM's but the prop 'looked' perfect. I put a new prop on and now it runs smooth as silk!
  23. I have the black plastic cup holders in my '06 Elite V, where can I buy stainless steel cup holders to replace the plastic ones? Not sure I really need to do this but I sure like the looks of them.
