When my head went under water, it was like a major brain freeze. -
Who’s been surfing this year
Tleeah replied to mrrpfc4's topic in Centurion Boats General Discussion
On Feb 3, at Lake Travis, air temp was 40 degrees and water temp was 52 degrees!! Dang my feet were cold so put on booties. -
Hello Crew, We have enjoyed surfing our FX 22 for years and it has a killer wave. However we really like the FI 23 and all it has to offer. We demoed all the RI boats too and loved all of them all. It looks like we may pull the trigger!!! What I liked on the FI: Price point was better for us Love the lines and design of the boat, colors Surf wave versatility was insane. Ruff water handing was great Love the one screen dash Love the colors, see pics Fits perfect in our boat slip and lift, about max length Last but not least, the family loves the boat I think the difference for us on the FI vs RI was mainly price, the lines and marina slip fit. The RI 217 would fit, but really wanted 23-24 ft. The R 237 would be close to the max for slip and lift. I would love to hear everyone's feedback on the FI 23 and from any owners out there. Shout out to Ski Dock in Austin!!! They have been great handling my OCD on boats!!!! Travis

Thanks!!

Sweet, that boat will look RAD!!! Keep us updated on the progress.

I had zero CATS, 11.0 mph, 80 tab, 25 stinger.
-
No transom bag. I did have 250# of lead in transom.
-
Some pics a lake buddy took today. The boat is loaded with ballasts.
-
Here is my first attempt at a wave at full ballasts. I could not get a picture of goofy because I was with my son and he would make turns while adjusting wave. I was surprised how easy and fast it dialed in. The wave looked pretty darn big!!! Had ramfill 100%, locker bags 100%, and front hard tank 100%, then 550lb of lead.
-
That is a regular 6,000 lb hydrohoyst. My FX22 sat lower in the water so could not get boat fully covered. Since the FZi has a higher bow and freeboard, I really did not loose any cover going the the FI. The slip is about 23’, 5” in length.

Boat has been delivered and fits well in slip and boat lift.
-
Did not have a huge choice for the women of the family fell in love with this particular boat and got a great deal. I can see adding the transom bag later if needed. It did arrive to the marina on Thursday. Fits in my slip really well.

What is interesting, my Lumitecs on the houseboat will illuminate aft of the boat and the aft sides of the boat when I am underway. They do have a nice deep blue color for sure. -
Oh thanks, how silly of me.?. 1 1/8" or 1 1/4"

Cool, let me know if you ever come north to Belton Lake. Post a pic when you can. A couple of questions, Which motor did you get? Is prop on 1&1/8" shaft or the 1&1/16". What surf settings do you prefer?
-
Hoseboating is the best!!! There is something about staying on the water on a boat. Which houseboat is yours?
-
Hey Chexi, we have a pretty good hydrofoil group here at Lake Belton. I meant to tell you. They are amazing to watch.
-
I am on Lake Belton, Frank's Marina, in Belton TX. It is an hour north from Austin. Great lake for surfing, all cliff lined and clean water. Also the avg depth is 73 feet. I love Lake Austin and Travis, but they are so crowded in the summer. We have a houseboat at Belton so makes a great combination with surf boat. Have you been to Lake Belton?
-
I did not take a picture of the sub. I will get a pic tomrrow when they bring boat to Lake Belton. In the first picture above, you can see the corner of the Wetsounds gaurd right above the corner of the seat. It looks good.
-
It has a 12 inch wetsounds sub with a box. For power of has a wetsounds amp and that Roswell amp. I’m going to hold off on making changes to the system until I get the boat to the marina, tune it, and hear it. I’m picky about the stereo so I foresee I will end up with a zone controller/EQ, replace cockpit speakers, and probably the Roswell amp. I’m partial to JL audio amps. I did get these for my Rev 10’s before boat is delivered. These are essential to preserve the speakers.

So funny story. When I went out to demo the FI 23, we filled the PNP's and the ramfill bags. I was messing with the controls and the sales guy forgot to fill front 450lb hard tank. So I surfed it with the ramfill and PNP's with my 300# of lead in the back corners (150 on each side). The wave was amazing and long. Needless to say we figured out that the front tank was not full after I had quit surfing. I was sold on the boat without the front 450# tank full. The surf wave was great.

The Lifefourm look well built. That is important to stay water tight. -
show pics when you have them.
-
On our FI, we did not opt for the transom bag or the bow bag. I love that transom locker for storage. We have 500# of lead which will go into the transom and some weight forward the corner bags. I did surf the boat with 300# in the corners (150 in each corner) and the wave was epic.I will start with the 500# and add more if needed. On the transom bag, the bag sure looks small for 350#. Maybe it can hold that, but the area seems a little small to hold 350#.

The above picture is 2 of the 6 bulb in a straight line. They pretty bright. They are about $220-250 per light.
