  1. Check the pump housing inlets. I had a piece of impellar doubled up folded in mine preventing water flow.
  2. crap wake shape

From what I've read on the forums a while back the optimal setup for that hull is 300-400 lbs in the front and 250 on each side of the motor. Any more than this washes out the wake. Im sure someone with more experience will chime in.
  3. Hello all, you may remember from an earlier post I had the fun experience of having a cracked block http://www.centurioncrew.com/index.php/topic/4409-right-exhaust-manifold-and-elbow-getting-hot/ Anyway, I was told it was a 50/50 chance that the repair would hold (no internal damage) and so far it is holding up after 4 hours under load. The tech grinded the cracked areas and cleaned it up, then filled the cracks with epoxy. They hooked it up to a fake a lake and ran the motor for a good 30 minutes to make sure the repair held and no water was entering the block. I just wanted to give a heads up on my boat. Also, they did find pieces of impellar in the cooling system. This took care of the overheating problem as well. So freaking happy! My 8 year old daughter finally got up on the wakeboard this weekend for the first time! Thanks again for all the advice on my "boat issues"
  4. See this thread http://www.centurioncrew.com/index.php/topic/4433-hose-removal/
  5. Hose Removal

Actually, I have always winterized and serviced the boat myself, same way every year. I am convinced, and I'm sure I can show it is related to debris in my block causing my overheating problems. I am taking it to a marina for tear-down on Saturday. They quoted $4200 remanufactured installed and out the door, and they claim insurance should cover it (fingers crossed). I also pulled the riser off the manifold on the side that is overheating (after pulling hoses like h20king suggested and not finding anything)and there are carbon deposits pretty thick inside th manifold and riser. My point is I'm sure there was inadequate water being circulated, and Im sure its debris in the block.
  6. Hose Removal

So, I had a little time to work on my overheating problem yesterday afternoon and discovered the worse case scenario...my block is cracked I have a call in with my insurance to see if its covered. Hopefully will be because it happened out of water over the winter? Worth a try anyway :-(
  7. Hose Removal

Sorry for the delay life happened..Thanks H2OKing I appreciate it. I didnt know that about the pieces of debris mostly taking residence in the trans cooler. I have had two impellars "explode" inside my cooling system, so I bet its the culprit. This would make things easier. Obviously, I want to avoid pulling the riser off the manifold. Hopefully, it will be an easy job especially since the trans cooler is easily accessible. Chris, the short answer is yes, the entire motor would overheat under load however, the temp would slowly back down to normal at idle. So, nothing has changed I am simply begining to think about how I will approach the troubleshooting. I ordered a thermo since it has about 150 hours on the current one just in case. It was a cheap part to have on hand. I was recently married and will be leaving on a cruise in a couple of weeks and not sure if I will get around to it until I get back. I will let everyone know about the outcome for other's benefit. Thanks all!
  8. Hello all. I am having an over-heating problem and I think I have some debris in my cooling system. I am going to begin troubleshooting beginning at the thermostat and transmission cooler before attempting to pull apart the manifold. Does anyone know of a good way to remove hoses without tearing them up? Is there a special tool or lubricant I can use? Thanks.
  9. Thanks, Cyber....I'm thinking thats a good possibility I did have an impeller shred last season and I lost a couple pieces in there somewere I also notice the hot exhaust coming out of that side as white smoke. My wife and I will begin troubleshooting very soon. It may be a few weeks because of some other planned activities but I will report back what I find for others' benefit. Thanks again!
  10. Hello all. I have an 02 Elite V Hurricane. My right manifold and exhaust elbow are extremely hot to the touch, however the left one seems to be normal temp. The boat does not over heat when just idling or in gear but tends to overheat when under load or towing speeds. The impeller is intact and seems to be working fine. I replace it every season. I do beach it quite often and I wonder if sand has built up in the manifold or is clogging the thermo? I have yet to take the boat to a dealer and I can usually work through things myself. Any help is appreciated.
  11. Thanks for the heads up man. I have the same boat with the trim tabs. Question for you, have you changed the steering cable in your boat? I have been oiling mine with marine grease. I can't find a tool to get the nut loose to detach from the rudder.
  12. Unfortunately the floor cannot be removed. The only access under the deck are the two round access points to the fuel tank and ballast.
  13. So, I've never taken my boat to the dealer but I might to change the steering cable. I was talking to the dealer today and they said, "It's only a 2 hour job, we just have to be careful not to rip any wiring harnesses wile pulling the cable out of the gunnel" UMMMMM......I said it's actually under the floor....then all I heard was crickets chirping. He said he'll need to talk to the tech on Monday and call me back. Has anyone changed the cable in and under-deck cable run before? I did some research and read that the best method is to tie a rope to the rudder end of the old cable and pulling the new cable back through.
  14. Just found out these guys sell and service Centurion. Anyone had any experience with their service?
  15. How do you grease the steering cable? I don't see any fittings or grease points. I really want to avoid changing the steering cable. Looks like a huge pita.
