I am doing this myself for the first time this year. 50 50 saving $$ and increasing my hands on skills. Side benefit of teaching 14 yr old some mechanical skill as well. Pretty thankful to the crew and YouTube for lots of shared knowledge.

What method are you guys using to run antifreeze through the system?

I did some reading on here and replaced my steering cable with help from a friend. Hope to get out for first time soon.

Kind of ot but... Just talked with Lisa at wavezone last week and they have stopped production. Remaining stock was bulk sold. Too bad because it sounded like a good budget brand. She said as a family business they had to streamline their product focus on traction and skimmers.

We surprised my son with the board today (P5 icon) and couldn't wipe the smile of his face. Went for a late surf and my wife and I agreed he could surf as long as he wanted. 30 minutes later it was getting dark and we had to call it quits. What a difference the proper sized board makes. Better carving, more control, more feel... Best purchase to date.

Ooze is spend. Budget is a factor. I've found the above boards for $350 and under. I'll check out the Vitoria. Haven't heard the name before... Thanks! Any negatives to the icon for a young rider?

I have searched so don't flame me He is 12 and approx 110 with gear. I think the scamp is going to be too small by next year. Options in the affordable range are P5 icon, Wave zone 51" from crew store, or Cascadia 48". The Cascadia is from a local store but no demo option. My son can ride wireless but our big boards restrict his movement (58" triple x and p5 razz). I'm leaning towards P5 dye to brand recognition and take if we don't keep it.
