Discount inboard marine helped me when my steering cable went bad. They were able to tell me what length it was prior to me removing it. www.skidim.com/
  2. Broken swim platform bracket

I've Got Repair #2 complete and ready to install, But looking at the Alloy Marine design, I'll be ordering some soon. The way the pin goes through the bracket is entirely different and looks to be the solution for every broken bracket I've seen imaged so far. The original design is obviously not strong enough to hold the weight of the fiberglass platforms we now have. Had an 05 elite v with teak deck which had the same brackets and never had an issue. The fiberglass platforms are so large, when surfing they are steady in the water. It appears that is a contributing factor as well. Thanks guys for all the responses!
  3. 2 fuel pumps?

Think of it like the cooling system (2 water pumps) one to pull water from the lake and the other to circulate through the motor. one fuel pump pulls from the tank and the other keeps the fuel at the correct pressure for the injectors/fuel rail.
  4. Broken swim platform bracket

Are these the replacements from Centurion or did you have them fabricated? I'm having the same problem. The bracket attached to the platform gets hogged out where the pin goes through. I've had mine reinforced once (local welder) and now I'm having it done again. I've heard of stainless replacement brackets being sold by Centurion but I haven't called to check on price or availability. I've seen posts on CC that stated the brackets on the transom have to be replaced as well requiring different bolting locations on the transom which I'm not fond of. It appears as though CHADR has aluminum brackets which utilize the same mounts to the transom as mine. Just curious what the story on his are. They are not the aluminum brackets I'm used to seeing. Also you guys who've changed yours out to Stainless.....Was it worth the trouble? did you have issues with mounting transom brackets? Do the brackets cover up or use existing mounting holes in transom? Thanks in advance for any reply.
  5. Alright sounds like the 1579 is still the prop for the 240, the 5 blade sounded real interesting but at my age I'm doing much more riding in the boat than riding on the board, so I wouldn't ever use it enough to justify the cost. ordered a new 1579 from Nettle. We had a post about whether the cost of prop puller was worth it. It is.............. Any you guys have him fix any props? He's got two coming soon for repair. Going to get My back up prop (857) sent in too, its not perfect and I hate any vibration. If someone else runs into re-prop on older 240, CHADR is exactly right. Gel burn is a big deal on these boats. you go up to 13.5" (1579) now the prop is getting close enough now that if there is any other misalignment as a result of the impact you'll know for sure quick. I've got an 1/8 inch plate above mine to stop the gel burn, and with the 13.5" prop it is right on the Hull. I mean maybe another 1/4 inch but that's it. There are some boats that are having this gel burn/cavitation issue in more important areas. I would also like to put out there to other 240 guys who haven't changed (re-propped) yet. I kinda get into movie tags, with the prop change all I can think about is that Dukes of Hazard movie, when they jerk around with the cops telling them their car has 'No Balls" go back a prop size and you might think about it. NO BALLS paid the $150 for the overnight shipping NO BALLS. speaking of tag lines, this one was just tap it in just a little tap tap taparoo. Well thanks again for your guys help . if you can see the images thanks for the help, you know who you are.
  6. '07 240, 6.2, had 857 when I got it, Nettle recommended 1579 (the same that got damaged) I've decided my bad luck hitting stumps is holding (no too good). obviously gonna get the 1579 straightened out but another spare will be ordered immediately. checked through the older posts of course but has anyone experimented or have the options changed? Is anyone running something different? wake makers has some listed for my year model but I just don't see a 14" prop under there. 13.5 total is all I think can be done on my year model. Had a little gel missing over the prop when I bought it, so I had my local welder dude make me a plate to put the brakes on that little issue, and with the 1579 (13.5") I just don't think there's any additional clearance to be had. acme had me wring out a 3 blade which I was really digging (on my 05 elite) but it was way to low (sorry can't remember the number on that one it stayed with the boat when it was sold)] I'm pretty sure the best thing is to call ACME and/or Nettle and go from there but I kinda would like your guys shake on it first. thanks in advance for any input.
