1. PSS Shaft Seal

Would this fit a 2006 Avalanche?
2. With the stuff you said the dealer did, you didn't mention the distributer cap and rotor. Very common that moister causes green icicles inside. Easy to check and or replace.
3. Hey guys, I got a couple of questions for those of you with great knowledge and experience. I have a 2006 Avy with the Mercury Black Scorpion, been nursing a slow starter issue for the last few weeks. When I turn the key it takes a second or two for the starter to engage. Sometimes it fires right up, other times it sets there for a couple of seconds before it fires up. I am thinking the starter is dragging (maybe flat spots on the brushes). I don't think it is the batteries (two, no Perco) although they were in the boat when I bought it 4 years ago. I will pull the batteries and have them load tested. 1. My question is what starters have you guys used or heard of to replace? Is there that much benefit to using a Mercury Brand? Any suggestions would be appreciated. 2.The neutral safety switch is not suspect because the starter eventually engages without movement. Any other suspect areas to check. Thanks
4. I just have 1 Y valve that I plumbed into the original Jabsco pump. It fills the center tank then we switch over to use a auxillary hose. We use that to fill and drain a couple of 400lbs sacks that we throw around the seats. It works well except when you forget to switch it and pump water into your storage up front. Gets kinda wet up there, but that's what happens when you start getting senile. That's when it also works great as a backup bilge/wetvac. So we switch it once when we start (after the center is full) and then again when we are leaving so we can drain the center. That valve is located under the rear center seat compartment right by the Jabsco.

I have two Johnsons, each dedicated to one side filling 1100's and underseat sacks. So basically I can fill about 2300 lbs. in about 9 minutes. Or pump out an pump in a switch to either side in about the same time. When switching sides all 3 pumps are going.
5. We are thinking about it again this year. Can't commit just yet. But if we do the old Avy works on either side.
6. . Never heard of a hot water station. I don't think they will be doing any decontaminating.
7. So for those of you that have been doing this for a while. I can get pulling both plugs, that shows a token effort. But what about all of the sacks and tanks. The center tank doesn't seem to completely drain, and I have 6 additional sacks. Do you have to unhook and drain overboard to get the leftover from them out as well? Anybody in Texas been checked yet
8. "one of Duras"??? Dura how many wife's do you have?
9. Inboat speakers

Well, It looks like three will be just fine lol
10. For my slalom skiers out there!

It's been about 5 years since my last slide to the side. Not sure my boat could pull my fat butt up fast enough to get the spray out of my face. Maybe I will try again next time to see what happens.
11. Inboat speakers

You might want to try this for those hard to get places. They are quite handy. http://www.chapmanmfg.com/HK7331.html
12. Just did mine and came to the same snag when trying to pull the old one out of the 2 inch hole at the helm. Was thinking jig saw as well. Be sure you have the end shaft pulled all the way in before removing. The few inches shorter made all the difference, no jig saw needed. The cable is in there pretty solid (that is why your replacing) so I used a screwdriver one tooth at a time to draw it in. Good Luck!
13. Hey Kris, Dura, and 7.5, keep a eye on the bar in the hinge. Was putting on my license plate yesterday and noticed that it had worked its way out about 4 inches. Wouldn't want to lose that out on the water
14. I discussed with Kris before I mounted mine. I went ahead and mounted the same as his. I would say after a few days of use that I would rather have more play with it going up than down. Plate up, bow up, stern down gives the tallest wake. I may bring it down a bit just to make it a little longer for some. The benefit of going down past level would seem to be in areas outside of surfing. Starts, skiing, and general cruising. Rarely would you need to go very far down in those cases. At least that's how I see it. All the outboards I ever had I would always start out with the trim down at start and quickly raise it as the speed increased. Pretty much the same here. My Avy has no problem or cavitation on starts with or without it, so the benefit of nose down starts are not that big a deal. I had a fixed plate, so having any control is better than what I had. The great part for me is 1. that it definitely cleaned up the goofy wake and 2nd gives me ability to adjust longer and even bigger when I squat the rear down.
15. Tower Speaker Covers

I'm In!!
16. CREW DEAL: 2015 CenturionCrew.Com Spare Tire Cover

I PMed mine yesterday.
17. CRAIGSLIST FINDS

It's a noirutnec
18. I drain one side while filling the other. A Johnson pump for each side. And if I need to use the 2 400 sacks I use the 3rd original Jabsco pump with the quick disconnects. The transition with all 3 pumps takes 8 to 9 minutes. I could put in valves to divert the other Johnson to fill, drain, and transition. But it is all by a push of the buttons. If I am filling the seat sacks it takes about that long to drain move and refill anyway.
19. I am running pretty similar on the port side as Troy R and True. 1100 in each locker, 580 under the port seat. I found a sack from SUMO that fits great under the Starboard seat. It is 450lbs and shaped like a flattened burrito, everything else is Fly High. I also have 2 400lb sacks I can place on the seats in the back or in the bow. I did not have the adjustable asymmetrical plate until now, so I found that the port side (weaker people) responded with extra weight in the bow, whereas the starboard side worked best with no bow weight and most in the back. So when it just the wife and I, she surfs the port side and we put a 400 on the seat at rear, and a 400 port side on the bow seat. When we go to the strong side (starboard) we will put a 400 on the seat and the other one on the floor next to it. The plate may allow me to do some different things. I have the original Jabsco pump that is now reversible and a y valve that goes to the center tank (filled first and stays that way all day). Then I switch to a aux hose with quick connects that I use to fill and drain my 2 400's to throw around on the seats. I also have two Johnson's one that goes to the port side and the other to the starboard. Each side has a T valve that pumps and drains with 1 inch hoses to the locker and under seat sacks. I actually have the under seats vent hose (3/4 inch) going back into the lockers as they fill up guicker. Then I vent (3/4 inch)each locker to the opposite side. With the 3 impeller pumps I can pretty much convert 2300 lbs from one side to the other in about 9 minutes while under way. I am sure there are a lot of other ways to hook in more valves, to have more input, to one side or the other but this seems to work out OK. I took the boat out last week to test out the Asymmetrical plate and wow. What control over the height and length of the wave and the PROP WASH ON THE GOOFY WAKE IS GONE!! PM me if you would like to discuss. There are a lot of us here that were right were you are right now.
20. Well not 10 minutes after finishing the asymmetrical plate and Lenco mod. I was talking to Kris about the next item to ponder. Has anyone converted their center tank to a fuel cell. Kris had prices from Fineline for the parts and they came in around $550. The tank was around $300 and the rest was the brackets hoses etc. My center tank is full in the water about 95% of the time so why not have it full of something useful. Just curious if anyone has taken this on, and how difficult it would be? It would pay for itself just in the gas prices being $2.00/gallon x 20 at the station rather than the marina.
21. Yah not too worried about the loss of ballast. Just would like to extend my time on the water, and or not spend the high prices for gas at the marina. I am cheap that way. The threads I have seen so far are guys talking about it, and getting prices. Big Cat has one already installed in his boat. Anyone out there done it yet, or know someone who has?
22. All done with the install. I just copied where Kris mounted his. Took a total of about 3 hours to put in. Thanks again Dura and Kris for putting the kit together. It was pretty much plug and play how yall shipped it. A little rain with a cold front so will probably take her out later this week to check out.
23. original ballast set up

As you guys are posting this about the optional fuel cell, I was posting on the Mod site if anyone has done it.
24. I wish!! No I mean $2 difference from a gas station and Marina.
25. So what you are saying is that the Avy's have the nuts, and Elite V's don't Lol. Trying to understand... so the plate up or down changes the height and length of the wave, and the asymmetrical part cleans the top? I was under the impression that the key was tilting it down to push the wash under the wave out to the back of it.
