  1. I have a 2007 Avalanche. The RPMs on the dash are drastically (1,000+) different than what displays on the perfectpass. I want to verify the correct RPMs (I think perfectpass is correct). Is there any OBD2 port on these engines that I can read the RPMs from the computer? Alternatively, I guess I can just use a Laser Tachometer measured on the flywheel. Assuming the RPM gauge is wrong, is there a way to calibrate it?
  2. Scratch that.....I have the Evolution tower, not the Gladiator. However, Sewlong in SLC may still be of help to you.
  3. Just took pictures for you. PM me your contact info and I will send them. Cannot upload here. The company that made the tower and bimini went out of business around 2009. They are long gone. Sewlong in SLC Utah I believe has made after market biminis for that tower. They may also be of help.
  4. The BEST boat is the one that is paid for. I have an 07 Avy and love it. You can do everything with it. Yea, you can spend 3x as much for a new boat with all the bells and whistles, but your money may be better spent else where. Yea, I drool at the new boats, them remember mine is paid for and maintenance costs are not that much. We surf and board just fine behind our boat.
  5. 2007 Centurion Avalanche. Lately when fueling, I seem to be getting a large air bubble in the tank. Something is not venting properly. Fuel will shut off. If I move the boat a little, I get a large "burp" and a LOT of gas spills back out the filler. I can then put in several more gallons of fuel. Where does the gas tank vent while fueling? Maybe my vent is plugged. This also started when I began using ethanol free fuel which seems to bubble up more then other fuel.
  6. WHAT IS THIS??

I have an 07 Avalanche as well. I do not have the item pictured. How does it work to hold the tower and where does it go?
  7. I will be storing my boat in heated storage 50 degrees. Any reason to winterize the boat? Other than the heat in storage going out, any other benefit to winterizing? When I had my boat in SoCal I never winterize it. Now I am in Utah.
  8. Some research on the web brought me to this comment from etrailer.com that makes sense: "The best length for the cable of a breakaway system...will be where the pin would get pulled right as the trailer would come uncoupled. The reason for this is that if the trailer would come uncoupled and the safety chains were to catch the trailer you would still want the brakes to apply."
  9. If my trailer became detached from the ball, I think the breakaway cable will pull before the safety chains fail. The breakaway cable is short enough that it will engage before the chains are fully extended. Is that wrong? Great write up!
  10. Dealer service

Spot on. I for the life of me cannot understand why every boat dealership does not also run a storage facility. The "A" customer looks like this: Buys the boat from the dealership, stores it in their owned lot, dealer services the boat in the off-season and give me front-of-the line for emergency repairs during season.
  11. Dealer service

DEEP POCKETS! I am a CPA and have done work for boat dealerships. Very very very hard for owners to handle the cash flow of a dealership. Seems too often boat dealers are also boat lovers with no business or financial sense. Cannot manage the slow winters or the downturn in the economy. Each market will have its down time. How many people can really afford a $100K+ boat? Most are on credit or home equity. Doesn't take much for that to dry up.
  12. I have an 06 Avalanche with only the center hard tank. I had the exact same issues getting the tank to fill as you describe. Pump worked fine, just could not get the system to prime and start filling the tank. My solution was to remove completely the Orbit sprinkler valve. Solved my problem. In your case with multiple tanks, you may need to REPLACE the valve with something better.
  13. Evolution tower folded down

Exactly as Nick213 said above. I can fold mine down by myself.
  14. I had my boat winterized last October. The shop is now claiming they forgot to invoice me for a broken drain plug that they replaced. Apparently the broken drain plug is plastic and blue in color. I have only the stock center ballast tank. I am only aware of the following drain plugs on this boat: 1. Transom drain plug-brass 2. Engine bay drain plug near the tranny-Brass with t-handle 3. Ice Chest-expandable rubber screw down drain plug Are there any other drain plugs on this boat related to winterization?
  15. Thank you. I think those 6 blue plugs are "freeze plugs." Is that the correct term? Are they typically removed during winterization? This was the first time I had to winterize my boat as I moved to a cold climate.
  16. 07 Avalanche. Current prop is #497, 13x17.5, 1 1/8" that came on the boat. I have moved from SoCal about 1,000 elevation to UT about 5,400 elevation. Need suggestions for a prop change.
  17. Prop Help-Moved to Higher Elevation

Thank you for all the suggestions. I contacted Acme and they suggested the 1619 (13.5 X 13.75 .105cup).
  18. Where to Boat-Utah County

Thanks. Ended up going to Deer Creek. I think I need to change my prop going from low elevation of SoCal to Utah. Noticed a lot less pull.
  19. Just moved back to Utah after being away for 25 years. I see others on this forum are from Utah. What lakes/reserviors do you suggest that are close to North Utah County? Is anyone going out to Utah Lake anymore?
  20. I am looking for tips to increase the accuracy of my fuel gauge. Why is may car gauge so accurate but the boat can be more than a 1/4 tank off? Anyone found a more accurate sending unit? Other ideas?
  21. The window frame is coming off. I tried to push it back down, but it wont slide down the window and I am afraid of breaking the glass. Wondering if I need to remove the entire metal frame first, reinstall the rubber gasket, then press the metal frame back on. Help please
  22. But how do I get the metal frame to slide back down over the window?
  23. There is not a screw, or even a screw hole. I think that is why this side came off. I noticed the other side does have a screw just above the gunnell securing the frame so it cannot come up.
  24. 2014 August Picture Thread

That is the Skylon mirror arm 2 1/2" The tower support arm is 2 1/2" one direction, 2 3/8" the other direction. I just added that arm two weeks ago and love it. I did use a rubber bushing Skylon sent me that helped take up the extra space on our oblong support bar. www.skylonsports.com
  25. My 07 Avalanche came with the Faria 12824 Hourmeter. The dial "sticks" at .9 until I tap on the glass do get the dial to flip. I was going to just replace it with the same thing. Any suggestions for someting better or diferent?
