  1. Well I had tech actually come out on the water and look at the thing with me and still no solutions to why it was doing it. Finally decided to just run it until a more obvious reason appeared (break something). While on my way to Powell we stopped at a gas station I came across some SAE 30 oil and thought why not just change the v-drive oil for the heck of it, the oil on the stick looked good but I'm sure I will have some down time while on vacation... so I changed the oil 2nd day in (ok what a pain the tush that is) and it seemed to have done the trick thus far. I ran the heck out of the boat and no odd sounds. The oil that came out was nasty so I am hoping that was the issue. I did not surf at all so I am not sure the problem is solved but I will go back down in a few weeks and surf some to see what happens. PS not sure why I could not pump the oil out of the dip stick hole... I had to pull the plug which made a awful mess, any ideas for future changes would be great....
  2. Towboat222 what did you do about the gear wine? I thought I had got rid of my problem but it is back! Had another shop look at it and still nothing. They put a mic on and everything.... seems no one can get this to duplicate in the shop.
  3. 6.2 Scorpion, Velvet Tranny and Walter V-Drive 26
  4. LETS SEE YOUR RIDES

Hey now that's my babies mama! J/K We put the graphic on for all of two days until it was off again.... I want to wrap it, I really don't like the "crayola" graphic all that much....
  5. LETS SEE YOUR RIDES

    Here is our 04 Typhoon...
  6. Strangest problem I have every had.... At low speeds, say wakeless we get a clicking sound that has yet to be discovered. If you open the engine hatch it can't be heard over the engine and it does not seem to be the engine. You can't hear it if you stick your head in the v-drive/tranny hatch either, but if you put your head to the floor by the drivers seat it can be better heard or over the side of the boat seems to make it more audible. Local dealer (M&M) gave her a look over and could not find a thing, gave her a perfect bill of health after oil change, packing the seal and tightening the strut bolts. I took it out after and all seemed well but then after 30 or so mins it was back.... which in the past it never was present right off the bat so that is not all that surprising. What's odd is it gets worse as the day goes on but it will almost reset itself between trips... it is very very odd. Also it does not do it in neutral and it goes away when accelerating and higher speed. I read on the Walter paperwork that came with the boat something about torsional vibration from the engine that can make a rattle type sound, not sure if this may be it and something is off in the engine causing more then normal amounts of this. I also spoke to Centurion directly and they had me check the following which I did: Prop is tight: seemed find but I loosened it and tightened it again anyways Bolts on strut, rudder, fins etc are tight: nothing ridiculously loose Check coupler bolts: all seemed fine Check set screw in coupler, seemed tight Check V-Drive Oil color and amount, nice and gold plus full Check Tranny Oil color and amount, nice and red plus full, maybe a little to full.... After all this I took it back out to see if one more time I could locate the problem before taking it to another shop. Sure enough I could not get the problem to duplicate. I even filled up all the sacs and weight down the boat like we do when we surf (minus people) and ran it at surf speed, did stop and go starts, reverse, hi speed running, the works for 2 hours and nothing.... so either I fixed it with the checks above or this problem has just gotten better at eluding me. I plan to go run it again this weekend and I am keeping a exact list of things I do from this point so I can see if it comes back what may be the cause. If anyone has had anything like this your input would be great... I am hoping I corrected it but what I did was so simply that I worry I will be greeted yet again with this problem
  7. Trying to get my 04 Typhoon dialed in for surfing. Thus far we have had pretty good waves but I want to see what others suggest. Right now I run the following weight: Rear Port locker 750lbs sac (removed old tank) Rear Stbd locker Empty Port Seat (under) 400lbs Center Stock Ballast full (not sure on weight, 200-300 if think???) Trim Tab between 1-25% down 4-8 people on board between front to back port side Speed @ 10-11mph I think I need more weight up front maybe???? but I worry about overloading the boat.... Oh and I have to say that the pump system drives me nuts! Intakes are right above the exhaust so you can't fill with the boat on and anything plumbed in drains back into the lake via the intakes, I had put check values on but they seemed to rarely help, I have since changed to shut off values on the intakes at each sac, this seems to be working fine. I am trying some plumbing on the intakes to get it out of the air from the exhaust.... see how that works...
