  1. To make a long story short this is the second prop I have hit on a submerged rock, the first is now a 400 dollar boat anchor. Kids wanted to go out and kneeboard, weather got really bad, went back to camp, and we were anchored near a rock. Needless to say boat hit rock. An hour later, and a spare prop we were back in business! It happens, you just chock it up to owning a boat, and go about your business. Like everyone else has mentioned at least no one was hurt but the boat, and it can be fixed.
  2. Utah Surf Mafia get together

Would love to come but work schedule won't allow! Monday thru Friday job. I will be there in spirit tho, does that count?
  3. Swamped boat @ Utah Lake

It was American Fork harbor, the entrance faces south and so any kind of swells from the south go right into the harbor and all the way to the ramp, not very good for storm shelter!!!
  4. My understanding is that the deepening project is done for this year, and that will go deeper next spring. You would think they would just let them go at it, but there are environmental issues with digging while the water level is close to near the level of the dig site. Eventually they are supposed to go down to 3585 so that it almost always remains open.
  5. I am at the hotel in Page today, we hit the lake tomorrow. Air temp today 110 degrees, water temp today 78 degrees.
  6. Hopefully Duramat is in the great white north for the little while. We are headed to Powell in a week. Bigcat was the wind just like usual, and came up in the afternoon for an hour or 2? Is the water level really low? Do you go out of Bullfrog, or Wahweap?
  7. Rock Chip Protection

Use the Blue painters tape it works just as well and doesn't leave the residue!
  8. Where are the fuses?

Most of the newer boats don't use fuses, they use circuit breakers, mine are mounted on the right side of the dash below the steering wheel. Pretty much have the same boat just 3 years older. 1998 Elite Bowrider
  9. and what do ya know...his trailer is already in the water! We just had to laugh! How long had they been sitting there taking up a spot? They didn't win us over Don't you know who I am, I own a Malibu, and that means I own the LAKE! The funny thing is he probably just left his truck and trailer sitting there the whole time they were out racing around!
  10. boat explosion

His long battle came to an end this week, he could not stand the pain anymore, and asked that they take him off of life support, and pain medications so that he could pass, and that happened at the beginning of this week. The sad thing is that he had just retired from his job, so that he could spend more time at the lake with his family.
  11. How Lucky Am I ?!?!

Been there, done that check out this thread My Powell (Mis)Adventures
  12. Really depends on what week you are there? Wahweep can get very busy and congested, Antelope Pointe is like a resort on the water, Bullfrog is starting to catch up with Wahweep but is still relatively small, my brother has had a boat at all but Antelope Pointe, but just moved to Halls Crossing, for the year and said that it is probably the best out of the three. Small, quiet, and still have access to everything necessary to enjoy a week on the Lake! We are on a bouy at Wahweep!
  13. My Powell (Mis)Adventures

Sorry about the beached whale, it was not my intention to burn everyones eyes out, interesting story of how the boat ended up on the rock. We were there from the 30th of June until the 6th of July, while out scouting a place for the houseboat I bent my brand new prop (first picture) on a submerged rock, luckily I was turning around in a cove, and was just barely moving. We had great weather everyday until the 4th. the wind began to blow in the afternoon. It got progressively worse as the night set in, for those of you who have been to Powell over the 4th of July, there are 3 fireworks shows at night, that if you travel over to the dam you can see all 3. We decided because of the weather that we were not going to go over this year. Well about the time the fireworks show was over we hear on the marine radio, a distress call about a boat that had hit a rock. There were Twelve (12) yes 12 people on the boat, and the 3 that were sitting in the bow, were thrown out. Head injuries to all three, minor scraps, cut and bruises to the rest on board! The boat was launched about 30 feet, to where it came to rest on the rock, I will post another picture that show that there is a channel marker not more than 15 - 20 feet from the rock, the sad thing is he was on the wrong side of the bouy as well. The NPS nerver issued a report on the accident, but in my opinion there were 3 things that caused this boat to end up on the rock, 1. It was at night, he was going to fast, and he wasn't paying attention to where he was.

Two ways to tell whether your having a "BAD" Lake Powell Trip!!!LOL!
  15. This don't look good for PO the Utah Surf Mafia has an APB out for PO! Maybe he really doesn't want to sell that boat! If you can't get ahold of Po, Donny Baker from the Bob and Tom Show has a boat he has been dying to unload! LOL!
