no, its just i am so use to my 230 and then the 244 was almost identical and now i can't get my head around the additional counter weight. You are running aprox 1000lbs of counter weight, i was adding more and more as we where messing around but now realize it needs that much counter weight

I'll take pictures, but mine has the ramfill, then has a shelf from hull side to engine devider several inches above the ramfill that creates a gap. My boat had the pnp on top of the shelf. Just not sure the shelf is strong enough to hold the bag full.

There is not a gap under the shelf. Here are a few pics.

To nasmith: Can you look under your boat and get the ACME number for your prop? I would like to compare it with what I have on my FS44. Also, what is your approximate altitude? Thanks!

You've got the one step there. How deep is it? Probably 5-6" or more. The bags were falling into there and expanding with the water pressure and blowing out the dividers. Keep the shelf. Maybe even stuff some pop prod. lead in that void??? Doubt you'll need it though!

I posted the same pic twice. It was supposed to show full shelf and then half shelf. Not half shelf twice.

Dark the gap in the FS44 is about 12" deep, the tanks are monstrous!

Exactly what Dark said happened to mine twice and were warrantied after they broke the welds and bent the dividers. Keep those shelves in there for sure.

I believe mine came with a 2189. I will check when I get home. I'll also see how it performs related to RPMs, etc. this weekend.

Im interested as well, using the setups I posted above i run at 3150 rpms listed and 3650 using quicksurf both around 11.5 mph.

So I managed to get my boat on the water today. After spending a couple hours doing the break in requirements, I filled the ballast to see speeds.

My prop is the Acme 2279 15 x 15.75 x 0.105 cup

My boat runs WOT at 5400 rpm at 42 mph (44 mph down stream and 40 mph upstream)

I was running 3300 rpm with both ramfill, both pnp, and bow full using quicksurf at 11.5

I was running 2800 rpm with ramfill on surf side, both pnp, and bow at 11.5

It was slightly more upstream (100 rpm) and slightly less (100 rpm) downstream. I did not adjust surf speeds for the 2 mph current, so technically I should've dropped to 9.5 mph upstream and increased to 13.5 downstream.

Also, I was able to fairly easily get on plane to wakeboard speeds with both ramfill, both pnp, and bow full.

It shouldn't be any more difficult than any other. I have the prop puller.

hrmmmm my 450 runs WOT at 5600 rpms at 46 mph, not to mention how much higher rps at surf speeds mine runs at. sounds like i need to move to theat 15" prop for some huge gas savings!

Of course, the engine difference means RPMs will be different. The WOT RPM difference is due to the 550 being limited to 5400 rpm. Without the computer limiting it to 5400, I'd say the prop would allow the engine to get 400-600 more RPM. I'm glad the computer doesn't let them over rev. Don't have to worry about someone else driving. Of course, I never run at WOT, just doing the minimum break-in runs.

When empty, at 3000 RPMs I was crushing at 24 mph average (up/down) river

True I may just need to step up to a 14.5x12.75x.105c that 15" may be too much
