I'm trying to get the oil out of the engine. I have what looks like a 1/2" hose with a brass plug on the end. I thought tis was to drain out the oil. I'm now having second thoughts be cause when I in screwed the plug nothing came out. I also removed the oil cap and pulled the dip stick up just enough to let in a littl air. Am I missing something? The crucial step is....

As the infamous Bigcatpt would say "My drip, drip has now become a trickle."

By the looks of what is coming out it might take a couple hours to drain. Off to work.

After several beers... the log entry.

1825 shows the distributer cap and rotor.

1828 labeled the wires with a sharpie. You can find the numbers written in the owners manual and on the top of the distributor cap.

1829 I went ahead and bought a new flam arrestor. If you have shredded a belt check your air cleaner for fine rubber dust.

1830 shows the oil filter and two fuel filters, one being a fuel and water separator.

1843,1844,1845,1846,1847 shows the impeller (water pump) resurfacing, part numbers and the grease I used to hold the gasket in place.

the water pump was A little tricky. I found two nuts (1854) close to, think what is called the fuel cooler (1856). It's what the fuel and water separator screws into. Anyway, by removing those two nuts and the filter I was able to move the whole apparatus to open up a descent work area for the water pump (1858).

One more shot of the distributor cap with the ends marked.

1867 I also relocated the inline fuel filter a little higher. Does anyone think this is a bad location? (1867)

1857 The nut and bolt that hold on the water pump. (1857)

1850 water pump out

1851 impeller and gasket

So everything went well at the shop for doing my first annual. I'll be putting the boat in the water in a few hours and I'll report back then.

Looks awesome Rhunt! Nice work. I was going to tell you to get the fuel pump and water separator assembly the heck out of the way so you can get to the water pump.....but you figured it out.

rhuntlll,

did you have any trouble installing the distributor cap and rotor? I may go ahead and do this if needed, tons of work to do on the boat before we think about selling it
