asymmetrical plate? or fin or both?

I have the stepped hull. I am going to try to take boat to my buddies shop to make a pin on asymmetrical plate for my trim tab and maybe a pin on tab to switch sides for rider style. Which would be better if I only can make 1 in the few hours we have to do it?

I have a hurricane and added a 4" by 8" fin it workd great really cleaned up the wake. I run a 750lb in port locker, about 350 under port bench seat and 400 on bow port seat. I do not run any ballast in the center tank. Also my trip tab is set right around 22%

I would like to see how an a-plate would do on these hulls. The width of the winged section might have to be smaller than the 6.5" everyone is using or it would portrude into the cutout section of the hull (which might work). I added a fin to the port side of the trim plate,it didnt really change the wave at all. I run an 1100# in the locker and 2 tube sacs (380# a piece I think) under the seats.

Cold85, when you say "pin on tab" are you talking about a DIY surfgate or a tab/fin on the wakeplate? If surfgate, then I had exact same dilemma a couple months ago, albeit on a different hull. I went with Aplate first because it was cheap and easy, and it cleaned up goofy wave as everyone said it would. I have previous successful experience with DIY surfgate on a Mastercraft, but so far my experience with surfgate on the Typhoon has been disappointing, so still have some work to do on it. Net-net, the Aplate seems fast, easy, and sure thing, whereas surfgate will require more tweaking.
