Strut question

Does the strut have a sealed bearing, bushing or is it just a sleeve? I have a buddy who has an 02 Avalanche and he is getting a harmonic sound while under power. He turned the prop by hand while on the trailer and has a squeeky noise coming from the strut. I've never had one apart.

 

Any suggestions? I always thought the harmonic sound was caused by his tower.

The strut will make that noise when it is dry

As Kevin stated, it will make that noise on the trailer, as the strut is lubricated by the water. It is normal. The harmonic noise you hear might be from the prop being just slightly tweaked. This will cause the prop to "sing". Could try a different prop to see if it goes away.
