Salt water use

Recommended Posts

Hey all, have an 07 Avy C4 with sideswipe exhaust.  I will be using it in a saltwater lake this summer, i have a flush kit installed already and will be taking it to the car wash after each use, but any other suggestions for keeping it from rusting out on me?

thanks

Hi there. We use ours in saltwater full time. It’s a nightmare but it’s the only option for us. One tip, when you’re loaded up for surfing and quite low to the water it’s easy to take a wave over the bow. When this happens all the water gets back to the stern bilge and if there’s enough of it or you’re at an inclined accelerating angle, it can hit the bottom pulleys and the belt splashes it everywhere. Be ready to replace alternators! We go through one about every 25 hours.

thanks for the heads up Brian, i never put any nose weight in my Avy, and to date (knock on wood) haven't taken water over the bow... but if we do i will be bilging it all out before we start to surf again.
