I have an opportunity to buy a loaded 2014 fx44 with less than 100 hours for a really good deal. My only hesitation is this will be my first boat, and have very limited boating experience.

I’ve been doing some research for a little over a year and think I’m getting a bit of analysis paralysis. We will use the boat for surfing 99% of the time there’s anyone behind it, and for general lake cruising on some bigger lakes in Wyoming where we’ll see plenty of wind and chop. Am I biting off a little too big of a piece for my first boat in terms of handling, ease of use, etc, or should I just pull the the trigger and have fun? Is it pretty easy to get a surfable wave on the fx44, or should I look for a boat that requires less list until my driving skills get better and then upgrade?

I’d welcome any insights you guys and gals may have.

It’s what I have currently. Not sure if I’m too late, but also happy to discuss....

Awesome boat. No reason not to go big on your first boat, just take your time getting used to it!
