Bow bag vs lead bags

Recommended Posts

Now that I have the boat back up and on the water I am looking at putting more weight in the boat. I have a 2014 Enzo ss210. I run quick fill pnp and pro bags. I have nothing in the bow. Most of the time there are 4 adults in the boat.

I am thinking of 2 things adding a bow bag or buying the lead bags and playing with them. I have found that down by the QF valve there is about 3-4 little shelfs I could drop a extra 200lbs of lead? Is that a safe area to throw some lead bags?

What are your thoughts?

I have run lead for years in various boats.  The only downside(s) with lead are...

1. Nose is always low, makes taking one over the bow more likely.

2. Adds weight to the trailer when towing.

3. Due to lower bow trailer has to go in deeper than normal.

4. Adds weight to your jack, you burn jacks faster

Now the positives.  It takes very little space, so you maintain storage.  The weight ia more concentrated so you can gain leverage.  Think how your boat sits with you standing in the bow vs on the bow.

Would you put any more in the stern of the boat. We don't have any goofy riders. I was thinking of droping 150-250 down by the QF on the starboard side.

I have run 350 in each rear corner in addition to the 300 in the bow.  So yes,  yes i would add more. ?
