We just bought a S238 and we have put about 10 hours on it trying to tune in the best Surf wave. I have not found the perfect wave yet. I have tried running full capacity of everything in the boat( hard tanks, two bags in the back and the bow bag) with the quick surf tab and the wave looked good but didnt have the push. felt very soft while riding. Then i took all the weight out of the bow to see if i could get a higher firmer wave and that didnt seem to help much either. We are new to Surfing but plan to be doing A LOT of it this summer and i need to figure this out. Anyone found the secret recipe for weight/location of the weight speed ect. on this awesome boat? Thanks for the help a head of time.

I can't speak for the 238... but my 226 produces the best wave when fully listed. We use just a touch of the QS tabs to clean the lip, but very minor deployment... just 3 quick clicks:) I can get a wave that looks amazing with the QS, but like you had mentioned... no push

That's what I kept running into yesterday was it looked great but didn't ride great. I must say I did have the QS deployed 100% most of the day. I played with the trim tab more than anything. I didn't really realize the quick surf was more for clean up than for the actual wave. I was more taught to weight the boat evenly 100% and deploy the surf tab all the way and there was your wave. Come to find out the surf tab really is one of the little keys into the wave.

I'm not sure as I don't have the 238 but I would imagine you are going to need some extra ballast such as Pellet bags. That's a big boat and is going to take some weight to sink it

Move the ram to the farthest hole on the quick surf tab. I can get about the same wave listed or quick surf

Also just use center tank and no bow sack for quick surf and cheat the lean a little by letting some ballast out of opposite side

I was told to try no bow ballast, 100% on the side surfing 50% on the opposite, 20-30% center trim tab, and both hard tanks filled at 9.8- 10.4 MPH. adjusting the quicksurf only to clean up the wave from my supreme sales rep. Mine has the upgrade from the manufacturer so i think it is 3100lbs from my understanding. Does that sound right? 2 hard tanks, 2 big bags in the back and the bow bag.

Close but you need more weight. Look at your quick surf tabs you need to move the ram to the farthest hole away from the boat. Then fill the bow tank both rear hard tanks surf side sack full and about 60% full on the off side. Speed should be 11 -11.6 and adjust the trim tell you like the wave.if all you have is stock ballast you will need more. 400 lbs under surf side seat plus both rear sacks full should get you there. Hunter clament gave me the set up so I know it works

so the first setup would be with stock ballast. and the second with both rear sacks full would be on if i put in additional sacks?

What is "the ram"?

It moves the quick surf tab. On the Supreme there is three holes on the quick surf tab. Just remove the one bolt holding the ram to the tab and move it out to the last hole then bolt back up.

yes or just get 400 lbs of pop bags. For listed I like port side full bow tank full a 100 pounds or so in the bow sack and about 25% in the oposite side sack speed at 11.4 with trim at about 15-20% the more weight you add the better it gets

Lenco is the manufacturer, "Ram" is what the actuator is also called. So it's the same bud....

Gotcha. Couldn't find photos of it with the three holes. Sounds like you get some extra adjustability with that

Playing with both of those ideas, what is the absolute best wave you have seen, between listing and weighting even and using tabs? Or is one better than the other. I know i need to get some extra weight but im wondering which way i need to shoot for.

What side you surfing? Or both?

My buddies S238 has flyhigh 1100's in lockers and 400's under side seats. Plus 200 in lead in each corner. Runs listed with surf side full plus 300-500 counter plus center tank or bow tank full. He had to deploy the STBD side quicksurf a tiny but when I was surfing goofy to clean it up. Which was weird. More counterweight seemed to mess it up.

Didn't Nathan say the 238 he demoed hated counterweight?
