G,Day all

I have recently purchased a 2004 sports bowrider that goes great except for a tendancy to bounce or porpiose at 30mph and over. This is most annoying and is worse with someone sitting at the back. Can this problem be cured with trim tabs or has anyone had the same problem and fixed it some other way.

Cheers Simmo.

I would think adding a Bennet Trim tab or a Lenco would help for sure. Does your boat have the turnbuckle adjustable trim tab? If so try cranking it down in the rear some. See if it helps.

Let us know.

mine does the same thing, but I feel like it is at speeds closer to 40 mph before it starts. I haven't tried fixing it yet, but when I do I think I am going to start with at trim tab (since my boat has nothing at all attached to the transom) and see how that goes.

My 04 Lightning would porpiose at go fast speeds with out setting the Bennett trimm tab down. I'm sure that would help you.

This may be a solution for you at a price all can afford thumbsup.gif .

http://www.centurioncrew.com/Power-Wake-Plate-t1784.html

The kits were designed as a direct replacement for the newer Centurion 12" wide four bolt manual tab, but can be installed on any boat with 12" wide flat bottom at the centerline.

was thinking about adding one.could it be made to work with the blade and if so is it needed or will the blade do basically the same thing for me ????? I think I saw a blade once with a two ram trim tab but cant remember what the reviews were

I bet the hydraulic wake plate would help a great deal but is fairly expensive. If it was me, I would first try adding a couple adjustable supports to your existing plate and try stiffen it up. The other option would be extending wake plate. Or you could add some lead bars in the bow.. Good luck.

The blade and the Bennett tab are opposites. The blade pulls the stern down by diverting the prop wash up. The tab lifts the stern and can help to divert the prop wash down (helps goofy side on regular rotation Enzo). There might be a situation where the combination is beneficial, but you'd have to hear from someone who actually has it and uses it.

Agree that the price for the standard bennett tab from either fineline or the retail market is high, that was why the power plate kit was put together. Goal was to share with fellow centurion owners the opportunity (found a bunch of plates at a steep discount) that fell to an individual owner with the skill set to put together the kits for fellow DIY centurion owners.

Supports might help and there are probably a number of people on the sight that have the old ones from replacing the manual tab they would be willing to sell cheap, myself included.

Our boat did the same thing. I had an adjustable wake plate... but we used the boat to wakeboard most of the time so I had the plate all the way up - this made the bouncing worse but made the wake steeper. My cheap solution was to always drive the boat with weight in the front... this definitely helped. Like everyone else says the hydraulic plate will also work.
