Word on the the street is an entry boat by Centurion called the Wave. Starting at $30k but with nice options mid-30's.
I would suspect this is a sub-20ft boat designed to compete with I would guess Moomba Outback V and new Axis boats by Malibu. Good idea to get people in the sport and a taste for the benefits of a V-drive. That's all I got, anyone else have any details? Dealers chime in??? |

See this WW thread. http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/3183/549884.html
There's a Gekko Bazooka (Centurion Wave) here locally. Very different kind of boat. The swim platform is unusual The wake board wake is good for a small boat. |

This story continues to fascinate me with the information that is available through the SEC. When Challenger Powerboats, acquired the assets of Gekko (as opposed to an operational company) the security agreement didn't list a Bazooka mold. This is the detail of the molds transferred to CP:
Revo7.1 stringer mold, gas tank door mold, back seat mold, 2ea. Hull molds, Deck mold Revo 6.7 stringer mold, Hull mold, Deck mold, 2 ea. Back seat molds Revo 6.7 hull, deck and liner plugs GTR 22 trunk mold, Bow ring, Hull mold GTX 22 Deck mold, Hull mold GTO 22 Bow ring, Hull mold, Deck mold, Engine cover mold (used for all in-line Gekko) GTS 20 Hull mold, Deck mold, Deck Plug Unless I'm mistaken, the Bazooka mold wasn't owned by Gekko and my guess is that Centurion leased the mold or the rights to use the mold to Gekko. Does anyone know where the Bazooka was manufactured? Did it possibly get laid up at a Fineline factory? |

The first time I saw a picture of a Gekko with the large swim platform I thought it was a boat made for launching parasail’s.

The local guy that owns a Bazooka said that Gekko bought the wave but latter redesigned it to their own specs. That's not a qualified answer. The Bazoka isn't a crrent Gekko model.

So this is the answer that I got from Les
Kevin, In response to your question and the posting you had me read on Centurion Crew. Gekko never has owned the Bazooka molds. Fineline Industries built the original Wave that is in the picture listed on this message board. That was built in the late 80's. After a couple of years a new Wave was designed and built for many years, this was the boat with the large rear platform This was the first wakeboard boat with built in Ballast ever designed. Not remote tanks or bags, but built into the hull ballast tanks, it also came with a Fly-High standard. Later it had a tower designed for it. It also towed the first World Wake Surf Championships at Long Beach CA. In the late 90's Gekko approached Fineline about having a wakeboard boat to go along with there 20' and 22' Direct Drives that they were building at the time, and Fineline offered to let them use the Wave molds with a Gekko name, thus the Bazooka was born. The last Bazooka was built in 2003. In 2004 Imar bought Gekko and moved all of the molds they owned to Fargo ND to built them there. As for a new Centurion Wave, there has been no announcement of such a boat from our company. As a matter of fact the molds that we had at Fineline East where crushed and taken to the Landfill 2 years ago. I would never say never about a new Wave coming from us, as we have brought back names from our past before, for example the Falcon and the Concourse in recent years. I hope this answers your questions. Les Clark General Manager Fineline Industries East, Inc. ![]() Fear is my Friend!

When I toured the woodland factory back in 05 to visit our then boat in progress they had a cool "bone yard" of molds on the property... the 30 ft "tsunami" molds were there, as were the above mentioned ones. Sounds like they've cleaned it up though. |

The Tsunami was rad. I heard they only made a handful of those, but if I ever found one in good shape I'd be all over it.

Yeah, I have only ever seen pictures of the Tsunami. I heard that the mold cracked beyond repair while being transported one time. It's a shame. That thing looked like a BEAST!

Yeah, I have only ever seen pictures of the Tsunami. I heard that the mold cracked beyond repair while being transported one time. It's a shame. That thing looked like a BEAST! Airtime had a red and white Tsunami at their previous "piano bar" location for a few months. It was back in 06 or so... I think they wanted 60K for it. It even had a V berth and skylight. It was a monster block mercruiser I/O with an integral extended platform vice an inboard. From what I understand they were more of a go fast with a tower than a towsports boat. There was a guy who used to post pics of himself surfing behind one (he had some pics of surfing in slacks and a leather belt on the wakeworld site as I recall). I was told the same tale of the molds cracking when they were moved to the woodlands plant. This time of year is perfect for "Centurion Lore" as we are one by one winterizing our boats and putting on our winter weight. This post has been edited by eleventenths: Nov 12 2008, 08:25 AM |

It sure is a beast. 30ft long and 60-70mph. Check it out. http://www.boatinglife.com/article_content.jsp?ID=3083 This post has been edited by islander033: Nov 12 2008, 02:14 PM |

Interesting discussion. It would be fun to see one, but way too big for most. Here are some other pics I found.

Wave: even if they make it, I wouldn't downsize as we got a big family. When I bought, I might have gotten the Falcon over the Avy as it would squeeze into my garage. One of our main purchasing needs was a Wide boat, so Avy and Falcon yes--Elite V no.
Tsunami: well now, if that was a v-drive and still around I might really look at upsizing. At my storage garage I park in between a 34ft baja go-fast and a 30ft cat go-fast so it would fit in better. I'm more into water sports than go fast, but a boat that did it all and looked cool to boot.... |
