Ok, first of all, this site is awesome! I googled for months hoping there was a site dedicated to Centurions and came up empty..I only found this site because someone on another message board had it in his sig. Anyway, I'm having a bit of an issue that hopefully someone here has run into and solved...

I have a 2007 Avalanche C4 and added an Amp and 4 tower cans. It looks and sounds great (the only way the wife would let me do it is if I promised it would look factory and it in fact does!) The only issue I have is that if I'm filling the ballast tanks with the stereo pumping, and turn off the pumps I get a pretty little pop for each switch I throw (It's only when turning the pumps off..never on). What is so strange to me is that I tapped power and ground right at the battery...is there any filter I can buy to make that go away? This off season I will be adding a sub and don't want an added thump when I hit those three switches. A side note, it doesn't matter if the boat is running or not...if that even matters.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Steve

First of all, welcome to the site. Second of all we need some pics before we can even consider helping you with your problems.

J/K....I assume that this problem has only shown up since your newest install.

How exactly is everything wired up? Amp power (w/inline fuse) and ground directly to the battery with the remote turn on wire to the deck?

Is the deck wired as it came from the factory with the toggle switch for power on and off?

Does it do it when you hit all of the switches or just the ballast ones?

Yeah..I need to get on the pictures...I have nearly 20,000 pictures from in the boat...but would you believe I can't find one OF the boat?!?!? When I see it all, the only thing on my mind is landing whatever new trick I'm working on (currently a wake to wake 360...just can't catch the damn handle...)

Anyway, the wiring is pretty straight forward...and you may have solved my problem just by asking the question. The amp is mounted under the flip up seat where the batt is and Ground is wired right to the battery. For positive, the ring connector was too small for the battery post...but I looked over and saw a positive lead coming off the battery that ran right to a circuit breaker. I did notice one time that tripping that breaker does not cut power to the CD player, I just figured it was to something else and never gave it another thought...now I wonder if that little breaker is for the bilge/ballast pumps... That would certainly explain why it's only when I turn on those switches (nothing happens if I turn on lights or turn stereo on/off).

So I guess as a follow up...what is that breaker for?

Thanks,
Steve

You could add a RCA Floating Ground Filter to your RCA lines. That should take any popping away. If you cannot find them have your dealer call Alan in Customer Service at Fineline East. Tell him the dealer to ask for a part # SNI-1. You will need 2 of them for your system.

This should take care of your popping. The Pump and Valves take a large hit on the electrical system momentarily, so the filters block the pop to the speakers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rofl.gif) http://www.centurioncrew.com/style_emotico...efault/rofl.gif

Get the right connector and wire the pos from your amp right to the battery with the proper inline fuse. Hopefully that will solve your popping problem.

That breaker is the pos to your fuse panel that runs all of your accesories, including your ballast pumps.

IMO those filters are a last ditch effort if all else has failed to fix the stereo noise problem. It is usually a bad or poorly picked connection that is the cause.

You sould try to run all of the stereo equipment from the same + and - if possible.
