I have a the following set up in a 2003 Elite V that i bought used. A toggle style rocker switch that powers the system, Sony stereo Head unit, Alpine 4 channel Amp, 4 speakers in the cabin, and 2 speakers on the tower. I believe all are powered off the main fuse panel under the dashboard. When ever I turn over the engine, the stereo turns off and back on, also, when I turn on front and back tower lights together, it also restarts. I am going to rewire the system, and want to run power for the audio system directly to the battery. I will put an inline fuse for the amp which is simple, but should i also put an inline fuse on the stereo, and should it go on the yellow constantly powered wire, or the red switched power wire, or both? And what size fuse should it be?

As far as I can tell, the stereo and accessories are already wired to the battery with only the fuse box and a breaker in the way(that's how mine was). So the rewiring may not solve this problem.
It would seem that your current battery isn't strong enough or big enough to keep up with the draw from starting your engine and such, thus resetting your stereo. A better option might be to add another battery and an isolator. Thereby using one battery for starting only and the accessories (stereo) on the other. This is what I did and it works great for 2 amps, 2 subs and 8 speakers. |

Well the battery died yesterday on the lake. I went to the dealer today and it ended up being a dead alternator. So, maybe that might fix it. I will post tomorrow after our next outing.

I had the same annoyance. The IPOD would reset to the first song every time I restarted the engine. I believe that it is wired to intentionally shut down power to all accessories when the engine is cranking (both to put max power to the starter as well as to insulate sensitive electronics to heavy starting loads on the line.
This was solved with a second battery and isolator (Blue Sea 7650) a pretty nice setup. |

I did not think about that, we are hooked directly to the battery source with a toggle switch to turn the power on and off not on the key. Good call Steve F ![]() Surf's Up!!!

The true winner would be the guy that gets his problems fixed, without paying through the nose at the dealership.
